Kids back in school. Pumpkins popping up in stores. Sights that hasten thoughts of autumn. The same is true for campaign ads. Temperatures will get cooler; leaves will change colors and Virginia’s polls will open for voting. There is an election for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, and the House of Delegates on November 2,2021.
Did you know that Virginia’s Department of Elections has a Citizen Portal? You can log on and “Access your Virginia voter record to update your registration, apply to vote absentee, and view your polling place, election district, absentee ballot status, and voting history.” Click on Citizen Portal - Virginia Department of Elections.
Did you also know the first day for early in-person voting begins even before the first day of autumn? You can learn more by going to Office of Elections | Elections (fairfaxcounty.gov) and clicking on the link for “Early Voting.” There’s other useful information there about voting options (format, dates, places, ID) and even a link to learn what is involved if you decide to apply to “work at the polls.”
You heard it a lot last year, and the refrain is still true: please make a plan to vote and consider reminding your Virginia friends (especially if they are new to the Old Dominion) to do the same.
