Inspiring Social Skills through Media (online)
Wednesdays, January 20–March 24 (10 weeks)
7pm–8pm
Ages: 18+
Social skills lessons provide opportunities for adults to identify social cues and communication skills in typical social settings. This class reviews the social skills you may have learned when you were younger or in school as well as expand upon skills to use as an adult today.
Using a variety of media formats as a basis for lessons helps break down the behaviors and allows for conversations and instruction on appropriate vs inappropriate behaviors. The participants in this class will receive a handout each week on a topic and watch a short video link before class. During the class we'll watch a variety of clips from TV shows and movies. Together we’ll discuss the behaviors and how they apply to our lives.
There are opportunities to learn about different types of friendships, how to engage in conversations, verbal and nonverbal cues, appropriate use of social media, expected vs unexpected behaviors, compromising, etc.
Join Melissa Hochberg for this new program to enhance a variety of skills while virtually in the company of your peers! Registration is first-come, first-served. Limited space available.

It may be cold outside, but adventures are still awaiting with our SummerQuest Winter Series! The Pozez JCC is excited to partner with Developmental Support Associates as they take you through a highly interactive social experience that integrates virtual, physical, and sensory components via a psycho-educational adventure. Before each weekly session begins, a package of real treasures and activities is delivered to your door. These tangible materials are woven into your role-play adventure and helps to bring the story to life within your home. Participants become characters in the story, and the decisions they make in collaboration with their peers determine how the story will unfold. The result is fun, fast paced, challenging, family-friendly and person-centered.
Players of SummerQuest enjoy facing challenges with their peers, while the SummerQuest team focuses on promoting personal, social and cognitive growth for each participant through positive energy, emotional support, mindfulness and so much more!
SummerQuest is designed for people who enjoy storytelling, role play, imaginary play, drama and creative expression. This program is great for children who are twice exceptional (2E), have social anxiety, could benefit from positive behavioral interventions, and/or children who love gaming and interactive adventures! Players will need access to a Zoom-capable device.
