"Something Rotten" (View Virtually February 13-March 7, 2021)

We’re tremendously excited to premiere this wonderfully entertaining show after its successful national tour! Something Rotten features two brothers set out to write the world’s first musical in this hilarious mash-up of sixteenth-century Shakespeare and twenty-first-century Broadway.

Something Rotten
Music + Lyrics By: Karey Kirkpatrick + Wayne Kirkpatrick
A Book By: Karey Kirkpatrick + John O’Farrell
Directed By: Tim Bair

Something Rotten, the outrageous, crowd-pleasing musical farce, welcomes you into the Renaissance. Created by Grammy Award-winning songwriter Wayne Kirkpatrick, and successful screenwriters Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell, Something Rotten was lauded by audience members and critics alike, receiving several Best Musical nominations and hailed by Time Out New York as "the funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years."

Set in the 1590s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as "The Bard" (William Shakespeare). When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing, and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self, and all that jazz.

Rated PG-13 for some adult language and humor.

This is a filmed version of a stage production, similar in approach to the way Hamilton was presented some months ago on Disney+.  This is a professionally edited video, shot from numerous camera angles, featuring some amazing local talent.

You may stop and start on the same device, but may not go back and watch the show again.

Please note: For the safety of our actors, they will be wearing (very unobtrusive) clear plastic face shields for the filmed performance.  We have also altered the staging of the show so that, where practical, actors/dancers are as socially distanced as possible.
