Claudia Kalb on Spark: How Genius Ignites (Virtually, via zoom)
In conjunction with the J’s Distinguished Speaker Series
Monday, May 16, noon-1:15pm
Claudia Kalb, an independent journalist, and NY Times best-selling author, will speak about her latest book, "Spark: How Genius Ignites, From Child Prodigies to Late Bloomers." Her book explores moments of inspiration in 13 great achievers, from Isaac Newton and Yo-Yo Ma to Maya Angelou and Eleanor Roosevelt. Ms. Kalb’s talk contains reporting photos from her trips to the birthplaces of genius…Leonardo da Vinci's childhood home, the London lab where Alexander Fleming chanced upon penicillin, Isaac Newton’s Garden with the apple tree, and the town in rural New York where Grandma Moses's paintings were discovered by a traveling collector. Through engaging storytelling and intriguing historical and cutting-edge scientific research, Claudia Kalb explores important questions to uncover what makes a prodigy and what drives a late bloomer. A Q&A will follow the presentation.
