Virtual J: The Yom Kippur War – The War that Changed Israel
Tuesday, June 30, 7:30pm
Presented digitally on Zoom by Itzhak Brook, M.D., Professor of Pediatrics at Georgetown University, Washington, DC, author and Embassy of Israel Speaker
The Yom Kippur War is sometimes referred to as the 7th day of the Six Day War. Dr. Brook’s presentation will include the historical perspectives of the 1973 Yom Kippur War and its long-term effects on Israeli society and the peace process. In addition, he will highlight personal experiences as a battalion physician and open up a discussion of the challenges of preserving one’s humanity and ethical values during wartime. His talk will touch upon caring for wounded enemy soldiers, dealing with fear, anxiety and PTSD, how religious beliefs affect coping with war, and finally the painful cost of war.
Once you’ve registered online at theJ.org/register, you will receive confirmation of your registration and will receive an invitation link to the Zoom session on Monday, June 29. Questions? Contact Shari.Berman@theJ.org.
Fee: $5 (a donation will be made to Friends of Disabled Israeli Veterans/Beit Halochem - http://fidv.org/)
