Israel Connections: The Land. The People. The Image.
Tuesday, February 1 (zoom)
11am-12:15pm
Featuring Shy Ashkenazi, Senior Shaliach, Pozez JCC of Northern Virginia
This course explores three important aspects of Israel: the land; the people; and the image portrayed in the media. Join Shy for an in-depth look at how we connect to the Jewish homeland in these three ways.
February Session: Israel in the Media - the Image We See. Despite being a small dot on the world map, Israel is the most reported place in the world news. We will tackle several hard questions in this session… How is Israel perceived by the mainstream media in the US nowadays? What is the role of interpreters in this perception? How does it appear on social media? And the most important question, how does the portrayed image impact the way Israelis see their country and themselves? Discover why and how the Jewish people formed and continue to maintain significant relationships with Israel.
Questions? Contact Shy.Ashkenazi@thej.org or Shari.Berman@thej.org
Fee: $6/Individual Session
