What Makes Us Happy? (This program has been postponed due to low enrollment)
Thursday, September 30, 12:15pm-2:15pm
Lunch: 12:15pm-1pm; Bring a dairy/parve lunch to enjoy before the program.
Featuring Amy E. Schwartz, Opinion & Book Editor, Moment Magazine in conversation with Debra Sann, Director of Community Affairs, Moment Magazine
The search for happiness is as old as humanity itself. In Jewish culture and text, the subject of happiness surfaces repeatedly. Confronted with the absolute devastation and evil of the Holocaust, Jewish thinkers revisited the topic. Among them was survivor and psychiatrist Viktor Frankl, who gave birth to what is now called “positive psychology,” the scientific study of how to make people happy. Amy Schwartz will lead an interactive program as we attempt not to discover the secret to happiness, but to explore Jewish insights into this elusive state of mind. The first 18 registered attendees will receive a ‘happy’ bag! 😊
Fee: Complimentary (advance registration required by Friday, Sept. 24.) After this date, email Shari.Berman@theJ.org for space availability. Donations to the Pozez JCC are always welcome and greatly appreciated.
