The Community Engagement Department strives to inspire Jewish journeys and serve as a catalyst for families in Northern Virginia to seek out deeper participation in Jewish life. Extensive outreach efforts support programs that are designed to emphasize Jewish culture, identity, and values to people of all ages and backgrounds.
Often, these programs are in partnership with area synagogues and Jewish agencies, including The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington.

The Wandering Israeli
Live Show on Zoom
Sunday, August 30, 8pm
“The Wandering Israeli,” with an original mix of storytelling, live music, and comedy, takes you on an adventure behind the headlines, across border lines, and onto the front lines of an unlikely friendship with resounding hope. Based on a true story, with 600+ performances worldwide, polyglot actor/storyteller Elad Shippony pivots through a medley of colorful characters weaving a unique tale that’s powerful, funny, and uplifting. Accompanied by musician Gadi Altman, the duo performs live on Zoom from Kibbutz Magal in Israel.
“The Wandering Israeli” will be showcased at the 2020 Rochester Fringe Festival in September (via Zoom) and continues to perform throughout these times at live online events organized by Jewish and Israeli communities worldwide.
