Community Engagement Interior Banner

By developing programming that is located at the Pozez JCC in Fairfax as well as around town at locations in Arlington, Falls Church, Springfield, Burke, Gainesville, Ashburn, Reston, Vienna, McLean, and more, the Community Engagement Department strives to inspire Jewish journeys and serve as a catalyst for families in Northern Virginia to seek out deeper participation in Jewish life. Extensive outreach efforts support programs that are designed to emphasize Jewish culture, identity, and values to people of all ages and backgrounds.

Often, these programs are in partnership with area synagogues and Jewish agencies, including The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington.

Sunday, April 19, 6pm

The JCRC will live stream the Virginia Yom Ha’Shoah Commemoration at Olam Tikvah at 6pm. It will no longer be held at the Pozez JCC of Northern Virginia.  Given the public health situation, only those participating in the ceremony will be present, and it will not be open to the public.

As the event gets closer, the JCRC will provide the links for live streaming and the program booklet so you can follow along and participate from home.

If you plan on watching the Virginia event, please register here. *

This annual commemoration includes original music, art, and writing from professionals and youth as well as recitation of the Holocaust Kaddish, and the intergenerational candle lighting. The program welcomes elected officials, interfaith leaders, Holocaust survivors, youth, and community members to be on hand and explore themes associated with the Holocaust.

This program is co-hosted by the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) of Greater Washington, Pozez JCC of Northern Virginia in Fairfax, and area synagogue. Each year, more than two dozen synagogues, houses of worship, and non-profits join us as co-sponsors and supporters. Details and registration at
