You will receive a reminder email with details and updates 5–7 days prior to the trip. If you registered and you didn’t get the email, please notify Michele. Also, please notify Michele prior to the trip if you must cancel. No refunds will be issued unless we are able to fill your reserved space. Trips are subject to change, please call to confirm. A minimum number of participants are required on all trips.

Note: Some museums have fees that will be collected in addition to the bus transportation payment.

“Keyboard Conversations” with Jeffrey Siegel

Commemorating Rachmaninoff and Debussy at GMU Center for the Arts
Sunday, January 26, depart the J 5:45pm return 9:30pm. (Note:  departure time has changed from 4:15pm.  We will not be stopping for dinner.)
Virtuoso pianist and storyteller Jeffrey Siegel is known for his “concerts with commentary” format. Siegel will play Debussy’s Clair de Lune and Rachmaninoff’s Prelude in C-sharp Minor as well as preludes by both composers.
Fee: $48 (includes bus transportation, orchestra ticket). Group pre-concert dinner — separate charge, local restaurant TBA.

Woodrow Wilson House – Private Tour

Thursday, February 20, depart the J 10:30am; return 1pm
This National Historic landmark offers an intimate look at President Woodrow Wilson’s life and policies. View authentic objects from the White House and elaborate gifts of state. This Embassy Row house shows what “modern” American life in the 1920s was like.
Note: There are 3 floors to view on the tour with a very small elevator for those who cannot walk the steps.

Smithsonian American Art Museum and National Portrait Gallery

Wednesday, February 26, depart the J 11am; return 3:45pm
Come in from the cold weather and enjoy these adjacent museums. Consider viewing Picturing the American Buffalo: George Catlin and Modern Native American Artists which examines representations of buffalo and their integration into the lives of Native Americans on the Great Plains in the 1830s and in the twentieth century. Another recent exhibit is Chiuro Obata: American Modern. This exhibition presents a comprehensive survey of his rich and varied body of work to date, from bold California landscape paintings to intimate drawings of his experiences of the mass incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II. At the National Portrait Gallery, be sure to visit Recent Acquisitions, which showcases 25 portraits recently added to the collection. There is a beautiful atrium with café and lovely gift shops.
Fee: $14 for bus transportation.
Lunch at café is on your own and optional.

Special Joint Program with ALI
Freedom House Museum and Gadsby’s Tavern Museum Tours
and Lunch, Alexandria, VA

Tuesday, March 24, depart the J 10:30am; return 3:15pm
Join us for a self-guided tour of the Freedom House Museum, once part of the headquarters for the largest domestic slave trading firm in the United States. The building is currently owned by the Northern Virginia Urban League and the Office of Historic Alexandria. We will then have lunch at historic Gadsby’s Tavern (separate charge) followed by a private tour of Gadsby’s Tavern Museum. Mr. Gadsby's establishment was a center of political, business, and social life in early Alexandria. Prominent patrons included George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, and the Marquis de Lafayette.
Please note: There are many narrow steps down to the Freedom House museum area and many steps at Gadsby’s Museum – no elevator in either historic property.
Fee: $26 includes bus transportation, admission to the two museums. Lunch is on your own at Gadsby’s Tavern.

Musicali Tea at Strathmore

Thursday, March 26, depart the J 10am; return 2pm
Enjoy a concert by The Levine School of Music adult students and teachers with a lovely tea and sweets reception afterwards. This concert features the Kokopelli Recorder Ensemble and other performers. We’ve been to their concerts many times in the past and it has always been a lovely time with wonderful music and talent!

NSO “Coffee Concert” at the Kennedy Center –
Kozhukhim Plays Grieg’s Piano Concerto

Friday, April 3, depart the J 9:30am; return approx. 2:30pm
Partake of breakfast items (available for purchase) in the Kennedy Center Café, overlooking the Potomac River, prior to enjoying a classical music concert in the beautiful Concert Hall. This year acclaimed Russian pianist Denis Kozhukhin will perform Grieg’s Piano Concerto. Conducted by incoming Music Director for the Toronto Symphony Orchestra Gustavo Gimeno, the program also includes Shostakovich's brilliant Symphony No. 1.
Fee: $38 (includes bus transportation, specially-priced seats in the concert hall). Breakfast separate charge/optional at Café prior
to the concert.
